The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has allowed a 4.266 per cent hike in the ceiling prices of coronary (or cardiac) stents.
After the price revision, the ceiling price of Bare Metal Stents is ₹8,261 per stent, while the Drug Eluting Stents (DES), including metallic DES and Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS)/Biodegradable Stents, can be retailed at ₹30,080 per stent.
An NPPA statement said all manufacturers or importers may hike the existing maximum retail prices of coronary stent, on the basis of Wholesale Price Index at 4.2662 per cent for the year 2018. The new price will be effective from April 1.
A PTI report adds: The Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI), a body representing leading medical technology companies, on Monday said the increase in coronary stent prices is in line with inflation and in the interest of the industry.
