NTPC Limited, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited are set to enter into separate agreements with Andhra Pradesh for setting up of large solar power generation parks of about 1000 MW each.
NTPC is set to enter into an agreement with the State for its long pending 4000 MW thermal power project proposed at Pudimadaka, located close to Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh. The project has been pending for years as there was no fuel linkage, which is key to implementing the project.
This signing ceremony, along with another memorandum on ‘Power for All’ initiative of the Central Government is expected to be inked, coincides with the 100 days of governance by Naidu.
Land allocation NTPC has been allotted 5500 acres for a 1000 MW solar park in Kadiri in Anantapur wherein it expects to invest about ₹7,000 crore.
NVVNL has been allotted 5000 acres at Panyam in Kurnool district with similar outlay and SECI, APGenco and Discoms have been allotted 3000 acres in Kadapa district.
Referring to the ‘Power for All’ scheme, the Minister said that by October 2, the State would ensure 100 per cent power supply to all sections of consumers.
Apart from providing seven-hour power supply to the farm sector now, it would be gradually scaled up to nine hours.
