Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy turned 70 today.
Sans celebrations, it will be a busy day for Chandy, who was injured in stone pelting on Sunday last during a LDF protest at Kannur demanding his resignation over the solar scam, as he is in Kochi to attend official engagements.
After two days treatment in a hospital, he was discharged on Tuesday.
Once known as a close lieutenant of Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Chandy’s first stint as Chief Minister came after his mentor resigned in 2004 when Congress was routed in Lok Sabha polls in the State.
He later became the Opposition leader in the State Assembly in 2006 when the LDF was in power. Congress-led UDF came back to power in 2011 and he became the Chief Minister for the second time.
