The combined desk-based and mobile PC market in India totalled nearly 1.9 million units in the first quarter of 2014, a 20.6 per cent decrease over the first quarter of 2013, according to Gartner Inc.
“Consumers accounted for 47 per cent of total PC sales in the first quarter of 2014,” said Vishal Tripathi, principal research analyst at Gartner.
”In the absence of any government orders this quarter, the Indian PC market performed dismally, re-emphasising the fact that sentiments were not very positive in the first quarter of 2014, and enterprises are deferring their purchases. However, with new government leadership, there is a positive sentiment both among and enterprises and consumers, and we expect markets to bounce back in the next two quarters,'' he added.
