The General Manager (HR) of Pepsico Holdings India Pvt Ltd at Ranjangoan MIDC near Pune was kidnapped and threatened by youths who wanted to bag a contract to transport the company’s employees. He was released later on the same day.
According to an account by the police, Jaydeep Katnis was abducted on the evening of August 25 from Viman Nagar area as he alighted from the company bus and forced him into a car. After being taken to various locations in the city, he was dropped back in the same area.
Katnis lodged a complaint against Yogesh Chavan, a 22-year-old youth who, police said, is related to NCP MLA Ashok Pawar. The police have booked Chavan and his accomplices under several sections of the IPC.
