Public sector oil marketing companies have cut petrol prices on Tuesday and have left diesel untouched.
The cut is Re 1 per litre (excluding state levies). This corresponds to Rs 1.21 per litre (including VAT) drop in retail selling price of petrol in Delhi. In the national capital petrol will now be sold at Rs 66.65 per litre from October 14 midnight/October 15.
In Mumbai, the price will be Rs 74.46 per litre after the cut while in Chennai petrol will cost Rs 69.59 per litre and in Kolkata the price will be Rs 74.21 per litre.
“Since last price change, international petrol prices have continued to show a downward trend. However, the rupee-dollar exchange rate has depreciated. Despite rupee depreciation, the fall in international oil prices warrant a decrease in selling price of petrol in the domestic market,” Indian Oil said in a statement.
