Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the honorarium for Anganwadi workers would go up by up to 60 per cent and the remuneration for Asha workers would be doubled from next month.
The Prime Minister announced this during a video bridge interaction with lakhs of Asha, Anganwadi and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) workers across the country, an official release said.
Following this, Anganwadi workers, who have been getting Rs 3,000 so far, will get Rs 4,500 and those receiving Rs 2,200 will get Rs 3,500. Financial support received by Anganwadi helpers would go up to Rs 2,250 from the present Rs 1,500.
The Prime Minister also announced that Anganwadi workers and helpers using techniques such as Common Application Software (ICDS-CAS) would get additional incentives. The incentives would range from Rs 250 to Rs 500 and would be based on their performance.
He also appreciated their efforts to work together, to use innovative means and technology, to improve the delivery of health and nutrition services and achieve the goal of POSHAN Abhiyan - reduction of malnutrition in the country.
