Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Pathankot Air Force base on Saturday morning even as the combing and sanitisation of the area got over there.
PM is expected to take an assesment of the security measures undertaken there in the aftermath of the terror attack, which took place on January 2 supposedly by terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). He may meet the family of the soldiers also, who lost their lives during the operations, sources said.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is presently probing the matter in which seven soldiers lost their lives and six terrorists were gunned down by the armed forces, which included army, NSG and IAF's Garud commandos.
NIA Director General Sharad Kumar on Friday was also believed to have met Home Minister Rajnath Singh apprising him of the leads obtained during the probe.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held another high-level meeting for second time with his senior officials on the Pathankot attacks and is believed to have instructed his officials to gather all relevant information and proof about the terrorists.
In a phone call to Modi on Wednesday, Sharif has assured him that Pakistan government will take "prompt and decisive" action against the perpetrators.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the process of continuing the Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue through the Foreign Secretary level talks can happen only when Pakistan takes action.
