The 28th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress and the 71st Annual Conference of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) will be inaugurated by the President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday at the HITEX.

The four-day event, touted as the second largest in the world, is expected to see around 10,000 national and international delegates. It will be held during January 17-20.

The society is the largest association of eye surgeons in India and has over 15,000 members.

The congress will focus on the recent advances in the field of ophthalmology said N.S. Reddy, Senior Vice-President, APAO-AIOS 2013. The event is coordinated by Alpcord Network Event & Conference Management Company Pvt. Ltd. Among the attendees will be the who’s who from the world of ophthalmology such as Frank Martin, President, Denis Lam, Secretary-General, Clement Than, Deputy Secretary-General of APAO; and others

Well-known eye specialists from Hyderabad, N.S. Reddy, Gangadhar Reddy, Pradeep Swarup, Manoj Mathur and Santosh Honavar will participate. The Andhra Pradesh Opthalmological Society is the local coordinators for the prestigious event that is happening in India after a gap of over two decades and for the first time in Hyderabad, informed Pradeep Swarup, Vice-President, APAO-AIOS 2013 Congress.
