President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted Delhi Lt Governor’s proposal on government formation by the Aam Aadmi Party with outside support from the Congress.
Sources said the Home Ministry sent President’s communication to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung this morning.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent President’s communication to the Lt Governor regarding formation of government by Arvind Kejriwal,” the sources told PTI.
They said the Home Minister signed the file last night and sent it to Lt Governor this morning.
“The Lt Governor is empowered to exercise his power as representative of President of India and decide date and place of oath ceremony in consultation with the Chief Minister designate,” they said.
In his meeting on Monday, Kejriwal had requested Jung to hold the oath ceremony on Thursday after staking claim to form government with support from the Congress.
AAP has 28 seats while Congress with 8 has agreed to give outside support. BJP is the single largest party with 31 seats in its kitty. The party had declined to form government citing lack of majority in the 70-member Assembly.
