After being hit by cyclone Hudhud, public transport system has resumed in Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts of Odisha, official sources said today.
“All our buses, including night expresses, have started plying on their regular routes from Tuesday as roads have been cleared. Our bus services to Andhra Pradesh have also resumed,” district transport manager of OSRTC (Jeypore) Rajendra Pujari said.
Over 100 buses, run by Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) in south Odisha, and all the private buses remained off roads since Sunday due to the cyclone, causing immense hardship to commuters.
However, rail communication from Koraput to various areas still remained affected.
Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express was short-terminated at Rayagada yesterday and Jagdalpur-Howrah Samaleswari Express short-terminated at Titlagarh.
“As the tracks between Koraput and Rayagada are blocked at several places by debris caused due to landslides, train services from here have remained affected. Once the tracks are cleared, train services will resume from Koraput,” station manager of Koraput railway station Jogendra Nath Majhi said.
