Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi said he disapproved of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid’s comment that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was ‘impotent’.
Earlier this month, Rahul had criticised Rajya Sabha MP Mani Shankar Aiyar’s statement that Modi was welcome to serve tea at the Congress office after the elections.
The party high command had asked its leaders and spokespersons to desist from making personalised attacks against political opponents.
“I do not appreciate this kind of comment...the kind of language,” he said.
The BJP had slammed Khurshid and the Congress for calling Modi ‘impotent’.
‘No agenda’ “Congress has no other agenda than slamming Modi. They do not have a leader. They do not have any politics.
“They are trying to make news by criticisng Modi from dawn to dusk,” BJP General Secretary Shahnawaz Hussain said.
Khurshid had said that he used the word ‘impotent’ to criticise Modi’s inability to stop the 2002 Gujarat riots.
“The word impotent is used in political vocabulary to show that somebody is incapable of doing something,” he said.
