Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej today asked the Centre to provide incentives to the affordable housing sector as more thrust needs to be given to this segment.
India being a land scarce country, there is a huge growth possibility for affordable housing developing which would be ’great value addition’, Godrej said at the plenary session of ’We Build India’, the southern regional summit of Young Indians here.
Job creation is another challenge as the growth rate has been slow for the past two years, he said, adding that rupee depreciation, inflation, fiscal deficit, current account deficit are among the economic challenges.
Government and corporate need to improve their systems to regain fast economic growth. Once the pending legislations on goods and services tax are implemented, it would help regain 8-10 per cent expansion, he added.
Godrej said while skill and training were important for the country’s growth and development, equally important are moral leadership and good governance. He asked the youth to have a vision not only for the country, but for the entire world.
He also called for setting up of a National Action Agenda to settle business disputes. India has the lowest rate of solving business disputes in the world, he said.
The judiciary should be made corruption free and accountable and the strength of judges should go up, he added.
