Chennai-based developer Akshaya Ltd has launched a residential project, which will be the tallest tower in Tamil Nadu with a height of 132 metres.

The 38-floor tower will have 31 apartments, one on each floor, of about 6,700 square feet, priced around Rs 7 crore.

The two-acre project, named Abov, also includes an exclusive fine dining restaurant, spa, club house and a view of the sea, with its location close to the coast on the Old Mahabalipuram Road at Kazhipattur to the South of Chennai.

Announcing the project, Chitty Babu, Chairman and CEO, said Abov is a sign of things to come. Vertical development is inevitable in urban areas where land cost is growing. Efficient land use and allowing adequate open spaces can happen only with higher towers. Abov will have luxury features such as a swimming pool – equipped with counter current feature, which makes it a swimming version of a treadmill -- in each apartment, apart from a common swimming pool, smart building features such as touch pad-controlled homes, space to park three cars, piped gas supply, private movie hall, centralised vacuum facility for cleaning and a business centre.

The fittings will be from high-end brands like doors from Barausse, Italy, Kitchens from Aran Cucine, bathroom fittings from Villeroy & Boch, and drainage technology from Viega.

The design is IGBC platinum green home rated, which is a mark of its efficient use of natural resources and the project is five-star rated by Crisil.

The construction contract has been awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji, according to company officials.

The developer will maintain the project for 10 years after completion.
