The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India is hopeful that the new Union Housing Minister, Girija Vyas, will continue the unfinished task of her predecessor on reforms.
“Maken appreciated the issues faced by the housing sector and agreed to our suggestion to accord infrastructure status to real estate to facilitate speedy progress to realise the Government’s mission of housing for all,” said Lalit Jain, Chairman, Credai.
“We are confident Vyas will continue to pursue various issues such as affordable housing with the concerned departments,” he said.
Credai had sought infrastructure status for the housing sector, besides reforms relating to land, administration, banking and labour.
On rising cost of housing, Jain said reforms alone would ensure that prices remained under check. “More importantly, a single window system for all clearances will facilitate quick approvals and speedy execution of projects,” he said, adding that the Centre should issue guidelines for this to all states.
