Don’t bribe officials. This is the message that CREDAI has given to its 10,000 members.
“We have had enough of charges that say builders breed corruption,” the apex body of developers said.
CREDAI National President Lalit Kumar Jain said he had conducted a survey among developers on saying “No” to corruption.

He recalled that there was a lot of scepticism when he embarked on “Mission Transparency” for the developer community and the Government 18 months ago.
But, today, the mission has been accepted, judging from the fact that a majority of developers across the country had accepted the CREDAI code of conduct. Various State and city units were setting up consumer grievance cells to proactively settle disputes out of court, he said.
Jain pointed out that because of CREDAI and its State chapters’ efforts, the Governments in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh had started moving to set up a single-window system for building clearances.
The war on corruption, he said, will be most effective if all CREDAI chapters fight it out with conviction. Developers should gear up to resist all kinds of exploitation and demands for bribes, expose bribe seekers and even move courts with writ petitions and complaints, he added.
