Kalyan Jewellers has announced a charitable initiative to develop housing facilities for the poor and needy in the state.
The State Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash flagged off the first phase of the project by handing over 35 cents (15,246 sq ft) in Thrissur to T.S. Kalyanaraman, chairman, Kalyan Jewellers. The land will be developed to build houses for 24 BPL families in the State.
Kalyan Jewellers plans to build houses for over 100 such families during the initial phase of this initiative. Located at Velur in Thrissur district, the project will be a multi storey complex comprising of 2&3 bedroom apartments. This will be handed over to the members of the families identified through the Government process.
The company will continue to develop such apartments on receipt of relevant land parcel from the Government, Kalyanaraman said.
