Saradha Scam: CBI arrests TMC leader Rajat Majumdar

 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested former IPS officer and ex-Director General of Police, Rajat Majumdar in the multi-crore Saradha Scam.

 

Majumdar, also a prominent Trinamool Congress leader and said to be the party's Vice President, was appointed as the as a security consultant in the Saradha Group. He is believed to have been involved with the firm’s daily operations.

 

A CBI spokesperson said that Majumdar has been charged with conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds.

According to a CBI sources that arrest was made today after the investigators found incongruity in his statements. Majumdar had been twice summoned by the central agency with relation to the Saradha Scam.

This incidentally is the third arrest by the CBI in the scam.
