Saradha scam: ED summons Aparna Sen

Sen was editor of a magazine promoted by Saradha group

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday summoned film-maker and national award winning actor Aparna Sen for her alleged link with the Saradha Group and its Chairman, Sudipta Sen.

The film-maker and actor, who was served a notice earlier, appeared before the ED on Monday, sources said.

Aparna used to edit the Saradha Group-promoted magazine, called

‘Parama’ .

Apart from ED, the Central Bureau of Investigation is also carrying out a parallel probe in the multi-crore Saradha Scam.

The background The Saradha Group, which operated ponzi and money collection schemes in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Bihar and Tripura, went bust in April 2013; duping several hundred investors in these States.

The Group Chairman Sudipta Sen was arrested later that month by the West Bengal police and has since then been in custody.

The other high profile arrest in the scam has been that of Trinamool Congress MP (Rajya Sabha) Kunal Ghosh. He used to head the media division of Saradha.

Meanwhile State Textile Minister Shyamapada Mukherjee also appeared before the ED in connection with the Saradha scam.

The ED had summoned him on Friday.

Mukherjee is the first Trinamool Congress Minister to be summoned in the scam probe.

He was summoned regarding a plot of land he sold to the Saradha Group.
