The Supreme Court has pulled up the CBI for slow inquiry in the coal scam.
“You have to pick up speed for concluding the probe against all 169 companies allegedly involved in the scam,” the Supreme Court told the CBI.
The CBI has assured the apex court that the probe would be completed in four-five months.
"It’s too mild a statement," the Supreme Court said after the Centre submitted that there was some controversy about the documents.
"You can’t sit over documents which must be provided to CBI," the Supreme Court said to the Centre.
The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to supply all outstanding documents sought by the CBI within two weeks after a list is given by the agency.
Further the Supreme Court said a CBI inquiry would be conducted in case the Government fails to trace the missing documents. The Centre has accepted the apex court's decision.
