Amitabha Chattopadhyay, an outstanding scientist, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RRSC) of the United Kingdom.
The fellowship recognises his outstanding contribution to the advancement of Chemical Sciences. It also denotes a high level of accomplishment as a professional chemist, said a release from the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), where Amitabha is a director-grade scientist.
His work focuses on functions of the biological membranes.
Amitabha is a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and the Ranbaxy Research Prize. He has also authored over 200 research publications.
