The city-based hospital chain, Shalby Ltd, has entered into an agreement (MoU) with Chennai-based Gleneagles Global Health City for heart and lung transplant programme.
Under the terms of MoU, both the companies will work towards setting up latest heart and lung transplant centres across all Shalby units in India. The heart and lung transplant programme with Gleneagles Global Health City is believed to further augment Shalby’s super speciality treatment lines.
The agreement between the two entities will facilitate patients and families residing in tier-II and tier-III cities and its catchment areas by reducing their dependence on select metro cities for such a life saving programme.
"Gleneagles will provide comprehensive medical care facilities to patients at Shalby with regard to heart and lung transplants. Training and knowledge sharing between the consultants of both organisations is another area, the MoU envisages," said Dr Vikram I. Shah, CMD, Shalby Ltd.
Gleneagles is accredited by several international agencies and has pioneered several advanced procedures in heart, lung, neuro and kidney diseases.
Shalby Hospitals has a comprehensive cardiac science department which offers services in the areas of adult and pediatric cardiology, encompassing cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery and treatment for congenital heart diseases.
"Gleneagles Global has performed 65 transplants in the past 12 months at its centres in Chennai and Hyderabad. This is the country’s premier solid organ thoracic transplant programme (heart and lungs) with results that are close to the benchmark of outcome and quality of care," said Dr Sandeep Attawar, Program Director and Chair (Cardiac Sciences), Thoracic Organ Transplant, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Academic Program.
