Unveils Sikander range of tractors

International Tractors Ltd, manufacturer of Sonalika tractors, is targeting the fast growing southern markets where it will double its sales network.

Addressing the launch of the Sikander range of tractors in the 35-90 HP range here, Mudit Gupta, President, Commercial and Strategic Alliances, Sonalika ITL, said the company has over 160 dealers in the southern States and this will double by end of 2019.

The market for tractors in the South is growing at a healthy 21 per cent. Industry sales in 2017-18 up to January was higher at about 87,900 units up from 72,700 last year in the South. Sonalika sold 8,400 (7,300).

All India sales was about 5.9 lakh units in this period up from 4.98 lakh units in 2016-17.

Comparatively, Sonalika’s sales was about 69,100 units (58,700). South India accounts for about 20 per cent of the domestic market and Sonalika hopes to tap the opportunity, he said. International Tractors has an integrated manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of about 3 lakh tractors ranging from 20 HP to 120 HP. The company will be making tractors for Yanmar which will be exported, Gupta said.

The price of the Sikander Rx750 55 HP launched today ranges from ₹6.30 lakh to ₹7.50 lakh.
