Issues relating to human trafficking and security of fishermen will come up for review at the Southern Zonal Council meeting here on Friday, to be chaired by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, besides Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar are scheduled to participate.
Personnel Administrative Reforms Secretary Shalini Rajanish said in a release that the meeting will review the progress in implementation of recommendations of its earlier meetings held at Puducherry and Hyderabad.
Issues relating to fisheries, especially security of fishermen, the need for strengthening the Drugs Control Organisation in southern States, introduction of Peninsular Tourism Trains in the southern zone, problem of coastal erosion and supply of building materials from approved quarries of Tamil Nadu are the subjects scheduled to come up for discussion.
The Home Ministry will review matters relating to police administration in the States, atrocities on scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and human trafficking.
