The city crime branch picked up a travel agent, who had allegedly booked tickets for several bookies involved in the IPL spot-fixing scandal, and handed him over to their Delhi counterparts.
“We handed over one Jimmy, a travel agent from Bapunagar, to the Delhi police, who wanted him as a witness in the case,” Crime Branch Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) A. K. Sharma said.
Sharma said Delhi police had approached them for help, following which they traced Jimmy’s hideout yesterday and handed him over to Delhi police. Delhi police wanted him as a witness because he is familiar with the bookies.
Jimmy had booked tickets of several bookies who were involved in IPL spot-fixing scandal, police sources said.
Prior to this, local police had on Monday arrested three bookies who were allegedly indulging in betting at a temple room in Sabarmati locality of the city.
Last Saturday, the Crime Branch arrested one Vinod Mulchandani from Satellite area for betting and recovered cash worth Rs 1.28 crore and gold biscuits worth Rs 26 lakh from him.
