As the world and Mumbai readies for Sachin Tendulkar’s 200th Test match, online travel website Musafir.com has decided to offer free rides to Mumbaikars to the Wankhede Stadium.
The website, which offers flights to over 3,000 destinations on over 270 airlines, has hired 200 Tab cabs that are to offer free rides from different junctions of the Mumbai city to the Wankhede stadium free of cost from November 14 to November 18.
In order to avail of this service, fans would have to show their match tickets at respective designated points. The cabs would also drop the fans back to the designated points from where they are to be picked up.
The deal was enabled since both Musafir.com and Tab cab are co-promoted by the Viva Group.
Speaking about the initiative, Sachin Gadoya, Managing Director, Musafir.com said, "Sachin Tendulkar has entertained sports enthusiasts across the globe for the last 24 years. This is our small way of saluting the Little Master. Though the sporting icon will be missed on the cricket field, we are proud to be associated with the legend.''
In October, UAE-based Musafir.com launched its India operations. Tendulkar, who is also the portal's brand ambassador, has a 7.5 per cent stake in the company.
Prasenjeet Bagchi, Chief Marketing Officer, Tab cab added: "In honour of the occasion, all cabs dedicated for the day are to be branded, internally and externally with special messages giving a tribute to Sachin.''
The pick up time will be 7 a.m. onwards and the drop time will be 5 p.m. onwards. On the Western Express Highway, it will be Borivali National Park Crossing, Goregaon Oberoi Mall, Andheri East West Flyover and Bandra Kala Nagar Junction.
On the Eastern Express Highway, it would be Ghodbunder Road, Thane, Majiwada at Teen Haat Naka, Thane, Mulund Check Naka and Suman Nagar. Certain areas would be the connecting highways like Vashi Station, RK Studios, Chembur (via the Eastern Freeway), Pizza Hut, Powai, on JVLR, via Eastern Express Highway and a special location has been identified as Shivaji Park, Dadar, by the company.
