IPL 6: Hyderabad to stay clear tonight

The IPL cricket game between hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad and Pune Warriors scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight is forecast to be incident-free, weather-wise that is.

This is despite the presence of a trough or wind discontinuity running down from Vidarbha in the North (East Maharashtra) all the way to South Tamil Nadu across interior Andhra Pradesh.

An India Meteorological Department update in the morning alluded to the presence of the formation. Wind discontinuity refers to the sudden change in wind speed, direction or both. It can cause change in weather also.

But forecasts by major models indicate the weather is likely to stay clear through the evening and night. Humidity is forecast to be at a low 13 per cent, which should be comforting for those out in the field.

Wind speed is forecast to clock around a lowly 7 to 8 km/hr under a partly cloudy sky, which is why no big weather is expected to occur in the central south-east of the country. Wind direction will be easterly to northeasterly, according to model forecasts.

However, day time peak temperature is expected to touch 42 deg Celsius. This is in line with the high temperature regime forecast for early Indian summer this year.
