Cricket fans turned up in large numbers as the sale of tickets for the first Twenty20 match between India and Pakistan to be played here on December 25, opened today.
The first bilateral series between the two neighbours since 2007 has generated a lot of hype with the ticket seekers queueing up in front of the counters since midnight, police said.
Online sale of tickets had commenced earlier this month.
India are scheduled to play two Twenty20s and three one-dayers against Pakistan starting December 25.
The last match played here between the two nations, which was a Test, was in 2007. India then nearly pulled off a victory, needing just three more wickets. Pakistan ended 162 for seven chasing 374 in the fourth innings of the Test.
