Serena Williams maintains a big lead over Victoria Azarenka in the latest women’s tennis rankings issued on Monday, after defeating her as in 2012 for a fifth overall US Open trophy the previous day.

Williams commands the WTA standings with 12,260 points, with Azarenka on 9,505 and Maria Sharapova, who missed the New York grand slam injured, on 7,866 points.

US Open semi-finalist Li Na of China climbed one place into fifth at the expense of Sara Errani, and Jelena Jankovic returned into the top 10, up two from 12th to 10th.
