Standard Chartered Bank Plc said that it has extended its sponsorship with Liverpool Football Cup for two more years.
The foreign bank bagged the sponsorship deal from beer-maker Carlsberg in July 2010 as part of a four-year contract. Reports in the United Kingdom have pegged that deal at £20 million per year.
The renewed sponsorship, which will continue to embed the bank’s name on the players’ jersey in the front, will be in effect till July 2016.
Financial terms of the agreement were kept confidential but such sponsorship deals typically run into millions of dollars.
Liverpool is a hugely popular football club in Asia, Africa and West Asia, where the bank has a sizeable presence.
