Thunderstorm threat to IPL finals?

There’s more than a hint of a thunderstorms invading the ground even before the Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders can spark fireworks in the IPL cricket finals in Bangalore in a few hours from how.

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium may witness thunderstorms intervening even as the players get going at the appointed time of 8 pm, according to forecasts by various weather models.

India Meteorological Department has traced a weather-generating trough of low of pressure passing over Karnataka replete with opposing winds running into each other and setting off atmospheric instability.

This is expected to translate into high winds and thundershowers after hot day conditions give into the interplay of moist air ferried in from both the Arabian Sea to the west and the Bay of Bengal to the east.
