However, the match between Germany and Portugal generated around 8.9 million tweets to clinch the second position in twitter circles till June 17.
The first minute goal by the Clint Dempsey of the US against Ghana generated 173,738 tweets per minute (TPM). However, the highest TPM was recorded at 183,076 when Robin Van Persie of the Netherlands scored a goal against Spain.
