There is a need to develop product-based technologies, for which patents can be obtained, according to Ramesh Loganathan, President of HYSEA and Vice-President of Progress Software Dev Pvt Ltd.
He was speaking at a seminar organised on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management, organised by the Confederation of India Industry (CII) in association with the Department of Electronics & IT (DeitY), Government of India.
Stressing the importance of incubation centres, he said there were able to result in ‘great’ technologies and it was important to encourage whole innovative ecosystem to promote more technology intensive start-ups.
VC Vivekanandan, Intellectual Property Chair, MHRD, said an innovator should always avoid infringement suit from third parties.
“Since IP is a territorial right, we should understand where the business is and further protect intellectual property in that country. It is also very important for a start-up that its entire team understands importance of IP,’’ he said.
