SWR’s flood relief material to Uttarakhand flagged off to Hubli

Parcel Van (VPU) with flood relief materials of South Western Railway (SWR) to the victims of Uttarakhand was flagged off at Hubli.

Bharat Scouts and Guides wing of SWR mobilised relief material from Hubli, Mysore and Bangalore division. Flood relief materials was collected from the Staff and Officers and their families of Headquarters, Hubli Workshop, Hubli, Bangalore & Mysore Divisions of SWR including President and Executive Members of SWR Women’s Welfare organisation(SWRWWO).

VPU containing clothing and other essential food items was flagged off by Ashok Kumar Mital, General Manager, South Western Railway.

Speaking after the flagging off Parcel Van, Mital appreciated the efforts made by the Bharat Scouts & Guides of South Western Railway for having collected the material from various departments of SWR under the guidance of Shayamadhar Ram, State Chief Commissioner, BS & G and Chief Workshop Manager, Hubli Workshop.

He further said as a first instalment, the flood relief materials worth Rs 4 lakh of around eight tonnes materials viz., Rice, Atta, Dal, Sugar, Tea Powder, Biscuits, Toothpastes, Soaps, Mineral Water, Utensils, new Blankets & new Towels are being sent to the victims of Uttarakhand.

The consolidated flood relief material of SWR being sent through one VPU to be attached by Train No.06948 Hubli-Miraj Link Express which left Hubli on July 4 to Londa, from there it will be attached by suitable train to Madgaon.

“This Parcel Van will be attached at Madgaon by Train No.12287 Kochuveli-Dehradun Express and is likely to reach Dehradun on July 7,” Mital said.
