Syska Group, a lighting solution company, has invested ₹170 crore in setting up three manufacturing plants at Shirwal, Rabale and Chakan in Maharashtra.
The Pune-headquartered company plans to set up one more unit.
It has invested about ₹150 crore in the Shirwal plant, which was classified as ‘mega project’ under the ‘Make in India’ programme.
The plant produces 30 lakh units per month and employs 1,000 people.
The company is in the process of seeking allocation of five acres more in Shirwal MIDC to expand capacity.
It has invested about ₹10 crore in the Chakan plant to produce about 700-1,000 units of industrial lights per day.
The capacity in the plant will soon be increased to 3,000 units per day, said the company in a statement on Thursday.
The company invested ₹10 crore in its new plant at Rabale in the outskirts of Mumbai.
The plant produces 7 lakh bulbs and 20,000 panel lights a month.
The Rabale plant also has a modern R&D and testing lab with the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories accreditation.
Rajesh Uttamchandani, Director, Syska Group, said the investment is line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative to produce energy efficient lighting solutions and innovative products of international quality for the Indian market.
“We have constantly tried to envisage and prioritise our investments with an aim to generate employment in the country. We are among the few consumer electronics to invest heavily here,” he added.
Since its launch in 2012, Syska has grown and diversified into various categories such as LED, personal care products and producing iron box.
The Group was known earlier as Guru Nanak Marketing, a company for distributing T-series audio cassettes, CDs and audio video systems in Maharashtra.
