Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is all set to get into campaign mode today beginning with a series of public meetings in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana region.
TDP had late on Friday released its list of candidates for Seemandhra region, which includes industrialist Jaydev Galla of Amara Raja Batteries from Guntur seat, while the candidature of his brother-in-law and son of late N.T.Rama Rao, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, for the Hindupur Assembly segment has been finalised on Saturday morning.
The Malkajgiri seat is witness to a multi-cornered contest with TDP candidate Malla Reddy, Chairman of Malla Reddy Group of Institutions, pitted against sitting MP and Congress candidate Sarvey Satyarayana, Lok Satta chief Jayaprakash Narayan, and TRS, YSRCP candidates, among others.
TDP has also decided to field senior Congress leader and former minister JC Diwakar Reddy from Anantapur Lok Sabha segment, senior Congress leader Rayapati Sambasiva Rao from Narsaraopet segment and Adala Parabhakar Reddy from Nellore. All of them had recently moved over to TDP.
Yet another Tollywood actor M. Muralimohan has been chosen for the Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat. For the Kadapa constituency, a home turf of YSR Congress Party, TDP has chosen R Srinivasulu Reddy.
In addition to releasing the names of candidates for six Lok Sabha segments, TDP also announced the names of 40 candidates for the Assembly segments.
The selection of candidature of Tollywood star Balakrishna was being speculated for some time now. It has come through with the TDP chief deciding his candidature from Hindupur Assembly segment.
