With the issue of allotment of land assuming significance, the Telangana Government has appointed a Group of Ministers, with Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah as its Chairman, to finalise the rules and regulations governing acquisition of land. The panel would submit a report to the Government.
The GoM comprises E Rajendar (Finance), T Harish Rao (Irrigation), K T Rama Rao (IT & Panchayat Raj) and Jogu Ramanna (Forests).
The GoM would discuss the right to fair compensation and transparency in land acquisition. It would suggest measures to be taken by the new government to operationalise the new Act on land acquisition and frame rules.
The rules would enable the officials to acquire land for public purpose. The GoM would be assisted by officials from departments such as Revenue, Agriculture and Registration, Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary to the State Government, said in a Government Order.
