The Telangana Government has secured assurance from the power-surplus State of Chhattisgarh for supply of about 1000 MW of power to the energy-starved State.
However, this is subject to availability of a corridor to evacuate power.
A team deployed by the State managed to get an assurance from Chhattisgarh for additional supply.
Post the division, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have made efforts to procure power from neighbouring States. Both the States have a commitment for power supply from Karnataka.
The delayed monsoon too has caused considerable stress on the States and the power demand has shot up significantly. Normally, the demand for power comes down during June, once the monsoons set in.
