A court will deliver its order on the investigation report in a coal block allocation case involving Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda. Last month, the CBI filed the report in the case involving AMR Iron and Steel. The court had held on January 30 that the former minister of state for coal, Santosh Bagrodia, secretary HC Gupta and section officer LS Janoti had illegally helped AMR.

The National Green Tribunal will hear a petition on the Great Indian Bustard, an endangered bird species found mostly in Rajasthan. The Supreme Court will resume hearing on States’ plea to return to them power of remission to at least release convicts who have completed over 20 years of their sentence. A Constitution Bench of the SC had refused to lift its order staying State governments from releasing life convicts, including Rajiv Gandhi’s killers, on remission of sentences.
