Tirupati laddus to use ghee from Aavin

Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd, popularly known as Aavin, has bagged a contract from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for supply of ghee for the preparation of the popular Tirupati laddus.

Aavin has bagged the contract after a gap of 15 years. Under the contract, 7,24,000 kg ghee, valued at about ₹23 crore, will be supplied.

“Aavin has won the order based on its price and quality,” statement from Aavin said.

Aavin has been procuring 32 lakh litres of milk on an average from farmers across the State and has been selling 23.5 lakh litres of milk daily.

It has been participating in various tenders in other States also and supplying ghee, butter and milk powder and other products. It has also been exporting a special variety of milk and ghee to overseas markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Qatar.
