OUR BUREAU
The Tamil Nadu government launched an online property registration portal on Monday.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami also launched an upgraded registration site https://tnreginet.gov.in/portal.
Currently, consumers have to visit the sub-registrar’s office for various documents, including Encumbrance Certificate (EC) and signed registration document.
The portal, STAR 2.0 (Simplified and Transparent Administration of Registration 2.0), eliminates the need for office visits. The portal is user-friendly and approvals are granted online.
Users can access documents by logging in with the registration number. There are options to get registered in phases if the user does not have all the required information in one go.
Once registered, the portal also facilitates online booking for registration at the sub-registrar office, instead of waiting for your turn.
Post-registration, users can upload the valuation documents in the portal. Email and SMS services are available, through which the users can get information about status. The EC and signed registration document too can be processed through the website. Also, free download of EC for properties is extended till the year 1975 from the current 1987.
People can pay for services online through 11 banks. Users can also get their queries clarified through the toll free number 1800 102 5174.
