The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University took a team of 15 Australian students from La Trobe University on a field visit to some farms near Pollachi to help them understand village life and farming practices.
The team comprised students undergoing their Bachelor's programme in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. They were accompanied by their professor Dr Peter Sale.
TNAU sources said that the team visited OVR Somasundaram's farm at Odaiyakulam village near Pollachi, evinced interest in coconut cultivation techniques, intercropping of cocoa and nutmeg in the coconut farm and different varieties of pepper, among others.
Later, they were taken around the village and shown the village layout, the different crops grown in that area, the land holding pattern, vegetable cultivation and related aspects.
