Cab services company Uber on Thursday tied up with Singapore-based social enterprise iCare Life to offer a specially designed certification programme for women in India which includes extensive training and assessment on simulators and practicals on road training.
Gagan Bhatia, Uber's Delhi head, said, "We are committed to creating equitable economic opportunities for women. We aim to create 50,000 jobs for women across India by 2020."
The course content and methodology to train women will be deployed locally across six Indian languages through individual tablets which will allow trainees to learn at one's own pace.
