Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati has asked 'donations' from industrial houses to clean the Ganga.
Addressing a national conference on preserving rivers, organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce, here on Wednesday she said the Centre is planning an integrated approach to rejuvenate the river. "There is no dearth of money," she said and added that the effort is to protect the main course of the river.
She said the existing action plans did not work well because of the lack of coordination from top to bottom. "Now we have a ministry for Ganga. We will work focussed," she said.
The Minister said she is holding discussions with other countries, scientists, technocrats, experts and saints on the issue. "In August, we plan to hold a meeting of people on the banks of the Ganga," she added.
