The Union Cabinet is expected to decide on the next move in Andhra Pradesh, following the resignation of state Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday.
State Governor ESL Narasimhan has sent a report to the Centre detailing the prevailing circumstances following the resignation of Kiran Kumar Reddy.
According to sources, the Governor has not asked Kiran Kumar to be a caretaker as the latter had expressed against such a move and instead suggested alternative arrangements be made.
While Kiran Kumar Reddy had submitted his resignation and announced his move to quit Congress in protest against the passage of the Telangana Bill, there has been a spate of resignations and considerable acrimony between leaders of various regions. The Governor had talks with the Opposition leaders.
Reddy had cited that he was quitting as the move to divide the State was detrimental to the interest of people in both the regions.
Meanwhile, a group of ‘ministers’ from the Kiran Kumar Cabinet have called on the Governor today.
In all probability, the State is heading for President’s rule, sources indicate. There is also some speculation that the Congress High command will chose a leader to takeover. But this is unlikely, sources believe.
