Good news has started trickling in for pilgrims and their anxious families from Andhra Pradesh, who have been stranded in the hills close to the famous pilgrim centres in Uttarakhand for the past few days.
The first batch of 40 pilgrims are on their way to New Delhi from Hardwar by road.
Relief operations
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who reviewed the situation, has asked the Commissioner, Disaster Management T. Radha to rush to Delhi to co-ordinate the relief and rescue operations.
The Chief Minister has also instructed the officials of the A.P. Bhavan, Delhi, to provide free food, medical facilities and financial assistance for transportation of pilgrims.
Extra coaches have been added to the trains coming from Delhi to Andhra Pradesh.
An IAS officer Sanjay Kumar has been asked to be in touch with district officials of Kedarnath, Hardwar and Rudraprayag and coordinate operations.
With improvement in weather conditions in Uttarakhand, rescue and relief operations are gaining momentum.
