Private sector employers need to recruit value trained manpower, says Mr Dilip Chenoy, the CEO and Managing Director of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Addressing a seminar on skill development organised by city-based Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Mr Chenoy said on Wednesday, “Companies don’t increase the number of skilled workers. There is requirement for 347 million skilled people and nearly 12.5 million trained workers enter the workforce every year”.
He pointed out that job seekers were not keen to join construction-related skill development courses. Instead, more and more people were showing interest in IT and ITeS courses.
“Nearly $ 1 trillion is estimated to be invested in infrastructure and the industry requires 103 skilled workers,” Mr Chenoy said.
