Once a year, Jindo Island in Korea witnesses a miraculous natural phenomenon, the parting of the sea, similar to Moses' Miracle. This year, 1 million people are to witness and participate in the Jindo Miracle Sea Festival.
Though the phenomenon is caused due to the difference in high tides and low tides, which creates a 2.8 kilometre-long road measuring 40 to 60 metres in width, the Korea Tourism Organisation, which has an office in Mumbai, is promoting the festival to be held from April 25-April 28, 2013.
Visitors will be able to walk through the sea from the mainland to a nearby island called Modo. The first promotion in 1975 got the locals to organise a festival to celebrate the event. The spectacular sight of the waves parting will be a sight to behold, promises the tourism office, and has been growing in popularity across the globe.
