With an aim to boost tourism in the two Union Territories (UT) of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, a new tourism logo was unveiled on Wednesday by Tourism Minister Shripad Yesso Naik.
The logo has been designed by ad agency Ogilvy and Mather, which will also manage the advertising and digital campaign for the same. The campaign has been built around the tagline ‘Small is big’.
Infrastructure The UTs will be promoted as activity-filled tourist destinations through projects aimed at promoting infrastructure. Bhupinder S Bhalla, Administrator, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, said: “The infrastructure uplift includes riverfront- and seafront-development, apart from a state-of-the-art National Oceanarium, which is a project under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Once completed, the Oceanarium is expected to attract 5,000 visitors a day.”
UT budget The two UTs have received a budget allocation of ₹1,360 crore this year, 70 per cent of which will go in upgrading infrastructure, Bhalla said, adding that efforts were on to develop one 5-star and one 3-star hotel in Diu through public-private partnership mode.
A 4.2 km dedicated cycling track was recently kick-started in Diu, and will be stretched to a total of 11.3 km in phases.
