Thrillophilia, a travel service start-up that exclusively offers adventure tourism packages; Catamaran, a fish retail start-up; and Eco Care, an environmentally construction material firm have been adjudged the top ideas at the just concluded TiE-ISB Connect event.
In the three-day event, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and Indian School of Business (ISB) duo has interacted with scores of start-ups and those who want to set up their own ventures. The three-day event had sessions on education, skill development, health care, internet and mobility Representatives of angel funds, venture capital firms, high-net worth individuals and other investors discussed the nitty-gritty of establishing start-ups.
BizQuest, which was held on the final day, saw over 200 fledgling entrepreneurs presenting their cases. Fifteen of them made it to the final round. While three were picked by the judges as winners, three others (HelloMyDoctor, Lumos and Doot.com) received the ‘special mention’ tag.
One of the three winners will get a cash prize of Rs 1 crore as investment. “It (Rs 1 crore) is only the minimum. They could get more if investors find the ideas worth betting on,” a TiE-ISB Connect representative said.
Catamaran, founded by Ravi Yadavalli, wantsto do to fish retaining what Suguna and Sneha have done for chicken.
Murali Bukkapatanam, President TiE (Hyderabad), said that the next TiE-Hyderabad-ISB Connect 2013 will be held on September 19, 2013.
